If you’ve made it this far, you probably already know my name is Sydney — most people call me Syd. I was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, and I still proudly call the prairies home. Over my 29 years on Earth, I’ve called myself many things: traveller, waitress, student, sister, friend — but up until recently, calling myself a photographer gave me serious imposter syndrome.
That changes now.
As scary and as cheesy as it feels to say it out loud, I’ve realized that if I want to live the life I’ve always dreamed of, I have to do the things that scare me. So here I am — officially stepping into life as a portrait and event photographer based in Saskatchewan.
If you’re curious about how I got here, the short answer is simple:
My first job was stocking shelves at my local grocery store. I started university at 18, changed majors too many times to count, dropped out for five years, and finally completed my Bachelor’s in Political Science with a minor in English Literature a decade later. Which to my surprise I am actually using in my current job.
At 19, I began what became a ten-year career in the service industry. I loved the pace, the people, and maybe the paycheck a little too much. That chapter recently came to a close so I could finally pour my energy into photography — not just as a hobby, but as real thing.
It all started with over-saturated iPhone photos of my travels posted to Instagram. But what began as fun turned into passion. Travel photography taught me how to notice the little things — the way light hits a face, the fleeting emotion in a crowded street — and that attention to detail now lives in every photo I take.

You can take the girl out of the chaos, but you can’t take the chaos out of the girl. That’s probably why I love event photography so much — it’s just organized chaos. Whether it’s a band concert, a work Christmas party, or your child’s first birthday, I’d love to be there capturing the moments that matter. Based in Regina, I shoot events across Saskatchewan and the Canadian Prairies.
Pet Photography Rooted in Heart
I grew up around animals, and I know how deeply they become part of our lives. When my childhood dog passed, I felt this intense grief — and one big regret: I hadn’t taken enough photos of them or with them. That feeling drives my pet photography today. Whether it’s your dog, cat, lizard, or rabbit, I’ll treat them like the beloved family members they are.
